What is your therapy/coaching style?
I deliberately limit my practice to a select number of clients to be fully present and engaged in each case.
Collaborative Approach: In session, we will work collaboratively to explore the many possibilities that may work for your situation. Depending on your desires, we may explore different angles, build solutions, or develop awareness of the larger systems and circumstances surrounding the issue, yet with a focus on moving forward with actionable steps toward a better future.
What to Expect Based on Session Type:
Couples and Family Sessions: In sessions, I do not take sides. The entire unit is my client with an orientation of adjusting relational dynamics and improving situations, moving toward building a better connection between you and your loved one.
Individual Sessions: We will look at what you are hoping to get from the counseling or coaching experience and collaboratively discover what will work for your situation, which may involve getting unstuck from emotional and/or behavioral issues, while moving toward a more preferred future.
My orientation includes considering our relationships to life. We will take into account relational factors, which may include environments, people, culture, expectations and roles. The therapy or coaching process may assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of your values and skills, leading toward transformative change.
How do virtual sessions work?
Choose your device: Sessions are over video or telephone. Video sessions can be done with a computer, cellphone, or tablet. All devices should have a camera and microphone capability.
Watch your email: Before your session (usually one day before), you will receive email instructions about how to connect to your session and some e-paperwork. The sessions will go through SecureVideo, a secure version of Zoom. If you already have the Zoom app, connecting will be even easier. Otherwise, simply follow the email instructions; it is an easy process.
Secure your space: The video platform is secure and confidential; however, you should ensure that your own environment is also confidential, such as being in a private space and/or using a headset with a microphone if needed.
Participants in different locations?: We have split-screen capability for people who are in separate locations. This can be optimal for family sessions or couples counseling during separation or travel.
What is the cost of services?
Video or Telephonic Counseling (New Mexico):
Individual Counseling: $300 per 50-minute session
Marriage and Family Therapy: $300 per 50-minute session
Reconnection Coaching (USA & International): $300 per 50-minute session
Free Consultation: I offer dedicated 15 minute time slots for live consultations over video or phone about your situation at no charge to see if my services will be a good match for what you're looking for. Click Here To Schedule A Free 15 minute Consultation
Insurance & Practice Philosophy: As a relationship and reconnection specialist, I conduct sessions with a relational/dynamic perspective and not a medical or diagnostic viewpoint. My focus is on highly personalized care tailored specifically to your situation. This means I do not accept medical insurance.
How do I pay for the session(s)?
The video platform, SecureVideo, will prompt you to make payment before entering the session. It will accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, American Express, and debit cards.
What's the difference between reconnection coaching and therapy?
In the state of New Mexico, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, and Reconnection Coach. For those living outside of New Mexico, the focus of the sessions is on relationship and reconnection coaching, not traditional therapy. I’m here to assist you in moving forward and navigating challenges with tools and strategies that are practical and action-oriented.
If you feel like you need more in-depth mental health support beyond coaching, I encourage you to reach out to a licensed therapist in your area.
If you have any questions about the distinction between therapy and coaching, I’m always happy to clarify further.
Are the coaching sessions confidential?
Yes. In coaching, like in therapy, everything you say to me stays between us. Please note that since we are focusing on designing a healthy partnership, I practice a 'No-Secrets' policy. If you share information with me individually that directly impacts the health or future of your relationship, I will not hold that secret from your partner. I will work with you to find a way to bring it to the table together.
My commitment to your privacy is absolute, with the standard exceptions required by law and professional ethics:
As your reconnection coach, I will not disclose or use confidential information without the client's express written consent, except when disclosure is required by applicable law, pursuant to a valid court order or subpoena, or when I reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to help prevent imminent serious harm to the client or another person. Additionally, while therapy carries strict legal privilege in a courtroom, reconnection coaching does not. In the uncommon scenario that you become involved in a lawsuit, divorce, or custody battle, a judge could potentially compel me to release my coaching notes or testify, and I would be required to comply.
Are you a certified coach?
I don’t have a traditional coaching certificate, as my credentials are actually beyond that. I have 30 years of clinical experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Some coaching certifications can be obtained in just a few weeks or months of training. My training was through a master’s degree, rigorous state board exams, and decades of practice exclusively in conducting sessions in the field of relationships. I bring this knowledge and experience to each session as we work together.
